On February
13, 2008, President Bush signed the Economic Stimulus Act (ESA).
The ESA provision provides tax rebates for individuals and tax
incentives for small business owners. In fact, under
Section 179, small businesses (that purchase less that $800,000
of capital assets) are allowed to write-off the full purchase
price of the equipment in 2008 (up to $250,000). There is
also a one-time bonus of 50% depreciation once that limit is
reached. This can mean potentially big tax savings for
you. By lowering your taxable income and taking
advantage of the depreciation bonus - Section 179 can
dramatically cut your 2008 tax bill, thereby freeing up cash in
the near term. If you choose to lease your new equipment,
in many cases, your tax savings may exceed the first year's
payments on your equipment!!! Contact your
accountant or tax professional for more information about how the ESA can benefit
your business.
